Heathrow Taxi Pickup Points 2026 | Where to Meet Your Driver at Terminals 2, 3, 4 and 5

Heathrow Airport

Taxis cannot pick up on Heathrow's terminal forecourts, so where you meet your car depends on your terminal and how you booked. Here is exactly where pre-booked drivers, Uber cars and black cabs pick up at Terminals 2, 3, 4 and 5 in 2026, what the pickup parking costs, and how to find your driver fast.

In short

Taxis and private hire cars are not allowed to pick up on Heathrow's terminal forecourts. At Terminals 2, 3 and 5, a pre-booked driver meets you inside the arrivals hall with a name board and walks you about 2 minutes to Terminal Parking, which is also where Uber cars collect. At Terminal 4, cars collect from the Priority Pick-Up Area outside the terminal (opened 23 June 2026) or free from Park and Ride Zone A. Black cabs wait at the taxi rank outside arrivals at every terminal. Pickup parking starts at £8.00 in Terminal Parking and £7.00 for 10 minutes at the T4 Priority Pick-Up.

Where do taxis pick up at Heathrow?

Pre-booked taxis and Uber cars pick up from Terminal Parking at Terminals 2, 3 and 5, and from the Priority Pick-Up Area or Park and Ride Zone A at Terminal 4, while black cabs use the official taxi rank outside arrivals. Heathrow does not allow any car to stop and collect passengers on the terminal forecourts, which are for drop-offs only. That is why your driver either meets you inside the terminal or tells you exactly which car park row to walk to.

Which Heathrow terminal will I arrive at?

Your terminal depends on your airline: British Airways mainly uses Terminal 5, Virgin Atlantic and Emirates use Terminal 3, Star Alliance airlines use Terminal 2, and Qatar Airways and SkyTeam airlines use Terminal 4. Airlines can move terminals, so always trust the terminal on your ticket. The terminal you land at can also differ from the one you departed from.

Which Heathrow terminal is my airline at?
TerminalMain airlines
Terminal 2Star Alliance airlines and Aer Lingus; Air India moved here from Terminal 4 in 2025
Terminal 3Virgin Atlantic and oneworld airlines such as American Airlines, Cathay Pacific and Qantas; Emirates
Terminal 4SkyTeam airlines, Qatar Airways, Malaysia Airlines and Etihad
Terminal 5British Airways (main hub) and Iberia

Terminal 2 taxi pickup (The Queen's Terminal)

At Terminal 2, your pre-booked driver waits inside the arrivals hall with a name board and walks you to Terminal Parking, about 2 minutes from the terminal doors. Uber cars collect from the same car park, at the level and row shown in the app. Black cabs wait at the taxi rank outside arrivals. Terminal 2 serves Star Alliance airlines such as Lufthansa, United and Air Canada, as well as Aer Lingus and Air India.

Terminal 3 taxi pickup

At Terminal 3, pre-booked drivers meet you inside arrivals and walk you about 2 minutes to Terminal Parking, where Uber cars also collect. Terminal 3 is busy with long-haul arrivals from Virgin Atlantic, Emirates, American Airlines, Cathay Pacific and Qantas, many landing in the early morning, so the black cab rank can queue at that time. A pre-booked driver who is already waiting avoids the queue.

Terminal 4 taxi pickup: what changed in 2026

Since 23 June 2026, cars at Terminal 4 collect passengers from the new Priority Pick-Up Area outside the terminal or for free from Zone A of the Park and Ride car park, because the Terminal 4 multi-storey car park closed for redevelopment. The Priority Pick-Up Area costs £7.00 for up to 10 minutes and £14.00 for 11 to 29 minutes, so drivers usually arrive once you have your bags. Zone A is free for up to 2 hours, with a shuttle bus to the terminal that takes as little as six minutes. Older guides that send you to the Terminal 4 short stay car park are out of date.

Terminal 5 taxi pickup

At Terminal 5, pre-booked drivers meet you inside the arrivals hall and walk you about 2 minutes to Terminal Parking, which is also the Uber pickup point. Terminal 5 is the main hub for British Airways and Iberia. Black cabs wait at the rank outside arrivals. If you are being collected by friends or family, Park and Ride is free for the first 29 minutes.

How does meet and greet work at Heathrow?

With meet and greet, your driver tracks your flight, waits inside the arrivals hall holding a name board, and walks you to the car, with 60 minutes of free waiting counted from your actual landing time. You do not need to call if your flight is delayed, because the pickup moves with the new landing time.

  1. Before you fly: your confirmation gives the meeting point and the driver's mobile number.
  2. After landing: turn on your phone; the driver can see your flight has landed.
  3. Passport control and bags: this often takes 30 to 60 minutes, and longer at peak times. The free waiting covers it.
  4. In arrivals: look for your name on the board as you come through the doors.
  5. To the car: a short walk to Terminal Parking, or to the Priority Pick-Up Area at Terminal 4.

How much does it cost to pick someone up at Heathrow?

Picking up at Heathrow costs £8.00 for up to 29 minutes in Terminal Parking at Terminals 2, 3 and 5, or £7.00 for up to 10 minutes at the Terminal 4 Priority Pick-Up Area, while Park and Ride is free for short stays. Taxi and private hire drivers pay these charges like anyone else, so they are part of the cost of being collected. With a fixed pre-booked fare, the airport charges are shown in your booking summary before you pay. The separate £7 drop-off charge applies only when a car drops passengers off at a terminal; see our UK airport drop-off charges guide.

Where do I get an Uber at Heathrow?

Uber cars collect from the short stay Terminal Parking car park at Terminals 2, 3 and 5, at the level and row shown in the app, and from the pickup point the app shows at Terminal 4. Request the car once you have your bags, then follow the signs to Terminal Parking. Uber drivers are not allowed to wait at the terminals, so they come from a holding area once you request. Uber cars do not normally carry child seats, and the price can rise when many flights land at once.

How long will my driver wait at Heathrow?

A Global Airport Taxi driver includes 60 minutes of free waiting, counted from your actual landing time, and adjusts automatically if your flight is delayed. Uber drivers wait only a few minutes once they arrive, so request the car when you have your bags. Black cabs simply queue at the rank. If your flight is diverted to another airport, contact your operator as soon as you know.

What if my driver is at the wrong terminal?

Call or message the driver on the number in your confirmation and tell them the terminal you are actually in, and they will come to you. If you need to move between terminals yourself, the Elizabeth line and Heathrow Express are free between Heathrow terminals. Check the terminal on your boarding pass before you call, because some airlines use more than one terminal.

Accessible taxi pickup at Heathrow

Every black cab at the Heathrow ranks is wheelchair accessible, and for a pre-booked transfer you can request an accessible vehicle when you book. Heathrow's free assistance service can help you from the aircraft through to arrivals, where your driver waits. Blue Badge holders get 2 hours free at Park and Ride when collecting someone.

How do I make sure my Heathrow taxi is licensed?

Use only a pre-booked licensed operator, a car booked in the Uber app or a black cab from the official rank, and never accept a ride from someone who approaches you in arrivals.

  • Pre-booked: your driver holds a name board and you receive the driver's details in advance.
  • Uber: match the number plate, car and driver photo in the app before you get in.
  • Black cab: take only a cab from the official rank, with its TfL licence displayed.

Pre-booked taxi vs Uber vs black cab: which pickup is easiest?

A pre-booked taxi is the easiest pickup because the driver comes to you inside arrivals; Uber means walking to the car park yourself; and the black cab rank needs no booking but can queue.

What mistakes do travellers make with Heathrow pickups?

The most common mistakes are waiting on the forecourt for a car that cannot stop there, following out-of-date Terminal 4 directions, and requesting an Uber before collecting bags.

  1. Waiting on the forecourt; pickups there are prohibited.
  2. Following old Terminal 4 guides that send you to the car park that closed on 23 June 2026.
  3. Requesting an Uber too early, then missing the car while waiting for bags.
  4. Going to the wrong terminal; check the terminal on your ticket, not the one you left from.
  5. Keeping your phone off after landing, so the driver cannot reach you.
  6. Accepting a ride from a tout in arrivals.
  7. Forgetting the pickup parking charge when a friend or family member collects you.

So where should you meet your car at Heathrow?

With a pre-booked taxi, stay inside the arrivals hall and look for your name. With Uber, walk to Terminal Parking at Terminals 2, 3 and 5, or follow the app at Terminal 4. For a black cab, follow the Taxis signs to the rank outside arrivals. If friends are collecting you, Park and Ride, or Zone A at Terminal 4, is the free choice for short stays.
