Airport supplement
A €5.50 supplement is added to every metered journey starting or ending at the airport.
Minimum airport fare
There is a minimum airport fare of roughly €15–€20 even for a two-minute hop.
Extra baggage charges
Bags beyond one per passenger, it's a flat per-item supplement, roughly €0.45–€0.58 per piece over 60 cm— which is why a family of four with a buggy and golf clubs rarely pays the number printed on the rank sign.
Metered fares are indicative guide prices for 2026 set by Málaga's licensing authority and can be revised. Our fixed prices are confirmed at the moment you book and are held for that booking.

Is the train really more reliable than a taxi?
For central Málaga, yesThe C1 runs on a fixed twenty-minute headway on its own track, so the 08:00 rush on the MA-21 that turns a twelve-minute taxi ride into thirty-five minutes does not touch it. If you are two people with hand luggage staying near Calle Larios, take the train, spend the €20 you saved on a bottle of Rioja, and do not feel bad about it.
It stops being the right answer the moment any of these apply: you land after midnight, you have more bags than hands, your hotel is a ten-minute walk uphill from Centro-Alameda, you have small children, or you are going anywhere the C1 does not run — which includes Marbella, Puerto Banús, Estepona, Nerja and Ronda.
Verdict:
Train for two adults heading to central Málaga in daylight. Transfer for everyone else.
And the ride-hailing apps?
Uber, Bolt, CabifyUber, Bolt and Cabify all hold VTC licences on the Costa del Sol and the airport has a marked pick-up area for them. On an ordinary weekday they undercut the meter, and paying in-app spares you the “is the meter running?” conversation.
The problem is that VTC supply is finite and demand at AGP is violently seasonal. When 25,000 people land on a Saturday in August, drivers cherry-pick the long Marbella runs and short city jobs get cancelled twice before someone accepts. A rank taxi cannot refuse you and a booked transfer has already been assigned. That is the whole argument for both.
Verdict:
Fine off-peak, genuinely risky during Feria, Semana Santa and August Saturdays.
Málaga–Costa del Sol Airport, explained in five minutes
AGP sits eight kilometres south-west of Málaga on the road to Torremolinos, and it is officially named after Pablo Ruiz Picasso, who was born a twenty-minute walk from the cathedral. On paper it has three terminals. In practice it behaves as one very large building.
Where almost everything happens. Every commercial flight disembarks here, all arrivals come out at Level 0, and the airport's single security checkpoint sits inside it. Check-in desks run from 301 to 386.
Connected to T3 on the inside and handles some check-in – easyJet and Ryanair bag drop often sits here. Piers B and C, used for non-Schengen flights, hang off this side. Allow extra walking time.
The 1972 original is effectively mothballed and kept as overflow. You will almost certainly never see it.
Landside, walking between T2 and T3 takes a couple of minutes and needs no shuttle. Airside, every pier is reachable from one shared departures zone.

Uber, Bolt and Cabify collect from a marked zone in front of the terminal. Not from the taxi rank. Check the exact spot in your app.
Non-EU passport? Budget extra time on arrival.
Since April 2026 the EU Entry/Exit System applies at Málaga, so British, Irish-routed non-EU and other third-country travellers register fingerprints and a photo at a machine on first entry. Queues at the non-Schengen piers can be long when several UK flights land together. Our drivers track your flight and wait – one more reason not to have someone billing you by the minute at the kerb.

Málaga is Spain's fourth-busiest airport and the busiest in Andalusia, and it is overwhelmingly a leisure airport: more than four in five passengers are international, and the traffic peaks brutally between June and September. Ryanair is by some distance the largest carrier, followed by Vueling, easyJet and Norwegian. Iberia, Air Europa, British Airways, Jet2, TUI, KLM, Transavia, Lufthansa, Eurowings, Aer Lingus, SAS, Wizz Air, Turkish Airlines, Emirates and a long tail of seasonal charters all serve the airport. London Gatwick is the single biggest route, ahead of Amsterdam, Barcelona, Dublin and Madrid.

Taxi to Malaga Airport
The return leg is the one people get wrong. There is no rank outside your villa, the coast road is unforgiving at 06:00 on a Saturday, and since the EU Entry/Exit System went live, non-Schengen departures need more time at the terminal than they used to.

Times assume normal traffic. Add 30 minutes for a Saturday changeover morning in July or August, when every villa on the coast checks out at once and the A-7 through Fuengirola crawls.

Dropped at Departures, Level 1
Terminal 3 Departures is a level above Arrivals, so you are set down at the check-in doors rather than dragging cases up from the kerb.
Book both legs together
A return booking locks both prices at today’s rate and means the same operator holds your departure slot — useful in August, when finding a car at 05:00 on the day is close to impossible.
Tolls, capacity and your rights as a passenger
Four things that decide what you actually pay at Malaga Airport, and what to do when something goes wrong.
Does the fare include the AP-7 toll?
Two roads run west from the airport. The free A-7 hugs the coast through every roundabout in Fuengirola. The tolled AP-7 runs inland from Fuengirola to Sotogrande and is far quicker in season, but the toll rises sharply in summer The actual 2026 figures: the Calahonda light-vehicle rate is €5.70 in normal season and €9.25 in special season — normal being October to May, special being June to September plus 17 days over Easter.
A metered taxi can add the toll to your fare, and drivers default to the AP-7 unless you say otherwise. Our fixed price includes every toll on the route — the number you are quoted is the number you pay, whichever road the traffic makes sensible on the day.
How many people fit in a Malaga taxi?
Most rank taxis at AGP seat a maximum of four passengers including children. Infants count. Larger 5, 7 and 9-seat licensed taxis exist on the Costa del Sol, but they are rarely the car at the head of the airport queue.
A group of six arriving together will usually be split across two metered cars and charged twice. Our minivans take up to eight with luggage on one fixed price, and 9–16 seat minibuses are available on request.
Receipts, complaints and lost property
Every licensed Spanish taxi must carry an official complaints form — the hoja de reclamaciones — and must give you a receipt on request. Ask for one before you pay: without it, a fare dispute is almost impossible to pursue.
Photograph the licence number on the door before you load your bags. It is the fastest route to a phone left in a footwell, and it takes two seconds.
Who runs the rank
Two licensed co-operatives serve Malaga Airport, Taxi Unión and Unitaxi. Both are metered, both are regulated by the city, and neither takes advance bookings for a specific arriving flight in the way a transfer company does.
They are the right answer for a walk-up ride into the city. They are the wrong answer if you need a child seat, a wheelchair-accessible vehicle, a group of six kept together, or a guaranteed car at 01:00 during Feria.
Events that fill every car on the Costa del Sol
Málaga's calendar is the single biggest driver of transfer prices and taxi queues. On the dates below, the rank backs up, the apps surge, hotels sell out, and the road into the city is closed in places. If your trip overlaps with any of them, book the car when you book the flight.

Attractions and day trips worth a car
In Málaga city
The Alcazaba and the Gibralfaro castle above it are the reason the old town looks the way it does — Moorish fortifications wrapped around a Roman theatre, ten minutes' walk from the cathedral locals call La Manquita, the one-armed lady, because its second tower was never finished.
The Museo Picasso occupies a sixteenth-century palace in the Jewish quarter; the Centre Pompidou sits under a glass cube at Muelle Uno, on a redeveloped port that also gives you the Malagueta beach and a promenade of chiringuitos grilling sardines on driftwood.
Mercado de Atarazanas, with its stained-glass window and Moorish gate, is the best twenty minutes in the city. Calle Larios is the spine everything hangs off.
