Quick answers

7 seater taxi: the short answers

What people ask before booking a 7 seater taxi, in a few lines each. The detail follows below.

What is a 7 seater taxi?

A pre-booked taxi with seven passenger seats plus the driver. It is a people carrier, an MPV, so a group of up to seven travels in one vehicle at one fixed fare, with one pickup and one drop-off.

How many passengers and bags fit in a 7 seater taxi?

Up to 7 passengers with cabin bags, or 6 passengers with 4 to 5 large suitcases. Seats and boot share the space, so the more seats you use, the less room there is for cases.

How much is a 7 seater taxi?

From £75 from central London to London City and £80 to Heathrow, up to £115 to Gatwick. These are starting fares; your exact fixed fare is shown before you pay.

Is one 7 seater cheaper than two taxis?

Yes, on our London fares. One 7 seater costs £5 to £45 less than two saloons to the same airport, and the whole group arrives together in one car.

7 seater taxi or 8 seater taxi: which do I book?

Seven people with a suitcase each need the 8 seater. Seven people with cabin bags fit the 7 seater, and up to six people with four or five large cases fit it too.

Is a Ford Galaxy a 7 seater taxi?

A seven-seat Galaxy or Sharan has seven seats including the driver, so it carries six passengers. That is our 6-seater MPV. Our 7 seater has seven passenger seats plus the driver.

Do child seats take up seats?

Yes, each child seat uses one seat, and every child counts as a passenger. Child seats are free on request, so give each child’s age when you book.

Which UK airports have a 7 seater taxi?

Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted, Luton, London City, Southend and Manchester have their own pages, and you can enter any UK airport on the booking page.

The basics

What is a 7 seater taxi? The seat count most pages do not explain

A 7 seater taxi carries a group of up to seven in one vehicle. Whether it carries your group depends on what “seven” counts.

Seven passengers, plus the driver

A 7 seater taxi is a pre-booked private hire car with seven passenger seats in three rows, and a driver in front. You book the whole vehicle at one fixed fare, so the group shares one fare, one pickup and one drop-off instead of splitting across two cars.

Why the number on the tin is not enough

When a car is called a “7 seater”, the seven usually includes the driver. A seven-seat Ford Galaxy or VW Sharan carries six passengers, not seven. Our 7 seater has seven passenger seats, so “seven” means seven people you can bring.

A taxi, not a minibus

The law that licenses private hire outside London defines a private hire vehicle as one that seats fewer than nine passengers (section 80 of the Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1976), so a taxi carries at most eight. Vehicles for nine or more are minibuses, which fall under different licensing rules. A 7 seater taxi is a people carrier, the kind of car you can book like any other taxi.

Will your group and luggage fit? Plan seats and bags together

Compared

The 7 seater is the right answer for a narrow band of groups. Here is where it wins and where another vehicle does.

One car against two

A group of five, six or seven cannot share one saloon, so the real comparison is a 7 seater against two saloons. The saving column is two saloon fares minus one 7 seater fare to the same airport. Two saloons also split the group and the luggage, and each carries only two large suitcases.

What sets the price

Distance and the pickup postcode come first, then the vehicle and any road charges. Once you confirm, the fare stays put, whatever the traffic or the hour.

Fares are indicative starting prices for a whole vehicle carrying up to 7 passengers; the 7 seater column is the saloon starting fare plus a typical people-carrier step. The drop-off charge is the airport’s headline charge, from our London price guide reviewed 7 September 2026 (see the Heathrow charge). The booking summary states VAT and the charges included. Enter any address or postcode and choose Get Quote for your exact fare. See also the London airport transfer price guide.

Included

What a 7 seater taxi fare includes

A group booking has more moving parts than a solo one. Here is what is covered, line by line, and what the conditions say.

Your whole group, met together

The driver waits at the arrivals meeting point with one name board for the lead passenger, and the group walks out together to one car.

One flight number, followed

Give the lead passenger’s flight number and the pickup follows the real landing time. If your group lands on different flights, tell us and we plan the pickup.

An hour of free waiting

For airport arrivals the clock starts at touchdown, and the first 60 minutes cost nothing, enough for passport control and seven sets of bags (see your booking terms).

One fare for the whole car

The price covers the vehicle, not each passenger, with no meter and no surge. Your booking summary lists VAT and the airport and road charges that apply.

Child seats at no charge

Baby, toddler and booster seats on request. Each takes one seat, so count every child as a passenger when you book.

Licensed drivers

A licensed driver carries out every journey. In London that is a TfL-licensed driver with a PCO badge who has passed a DBS check.

Free cancellation

Cancel free until 24 hours before pickup. After that, and for no-shows, the terms decide what happens.

Someone to call, any hour

Phone, WhatsApp or email, from booking until everyone is home, with your driver’s details in the confirmation.

Where this page and your confirmation differ, the confirmation wins, including on the charges covered and the waiting allowance.

Who books one

Who books a 7 seater taxi, and what to watch for

The same car suits very different groups. Each of these has one thing that decides the booking.

Family holidays

Two parents, three children and a grandparent is six or seven seats before a single case is counted. Child seats use seats, and the planner shows when the cases push you to the 8 seater.

Golf trips

A golf bag is long and counts as one and a half large suitcases in the planner. Tell us how many bags you are bringing and we confirm the fit before you pay.

Stag and hen groups

Six or seven friends travel together, split one fare, and nobody is left at a rank at midnight. Tell us how much each person is carrying.

Corporate teams

Seven colleagues, one cost centre and one invoice. An invoice is emailed after you book, and a corporate account is available on request.

Cruise and long-haul

Cruise passengers pack heavily. Seven people with cruise cases are an 8 seater booking, and seven with cabin bags a 7 seater one.

Weddings and events

Wedding parties and event guests arrive together and on time, with the pickup tied to one flight or one address.

Group pickups

How to plan a group airport pickup with seven people

Four details decide whether seven people and their bags leave the airport smoothly. None of them costs anything.

Count seats, not heads

Count every passenger, children included, and every child seat. Seven passengers fill the 7 seater; eight need the 8 seater.

Declare every bag

State large suitcases, cabin bags, pushchairs and golf bags. A group that under-declares is the main reason a vehicle is changed on the day.

Name one lead passenger

Give one name, one mobile number and one flight number. Your driver and our team contact that person.

Tell us if you land apart

If the group arrives on different flights or terminals, say so in the booking notes so the pickup is planned, not improvised.

Every passenger counts, including babies in a carrier seat. Your confirmation states the vehicle, so check it matches your party.

The car

The vehicles behind a 7 seater taxi booking

What you are guaranteed when you book, and which models are typical.

You choose the class, not the badge

Every vehicle is listed as “or similar”. We guarantee the class, the seven passenger seats and the luggage standard on this page, and match you with the best available car for the day.

Inside the car

A 7 seater taxi has three rows of seats and a rear tailgate. Air conditioning is standard on most, and the third row sits behind the second, which is why boot space shrinks as more seats are used.

Questions

7 seater taxi FAQs: 33 answers on seats, bags, prices and airports

What is a 7 seater taxi?
A 7 seater taxi is a pre-booked people carrier with seven passenger seats plus the driver, booked like any taxi at a fixed fare. A group of up to seven travels in one car with one pickup and one drop-off.
How many passengers can a 7 seater taxi carry?
Up to seven passengers plus the driver. Every child counts as a passenger and every child seat takes one seat, so a family of seven with a baby seat and a booster is seven passengers.
How many suitcases fit in a 7 seater taxi?
Four to five large suitcases with six passengers, or cabin bags only with seven. Seats and boot share the space, so the planner above shows what fits for your exact party.
How much is a 7 seater taxi?
From £75 from central London to London City, £80 to Heathrow and £115 to Gatwick (indicative). Your exact fixed fare depends on your postcode and is shown before you pay.
Is a 7 seater taxi cheaper than two taxis?
On our London fares, yes. One 7 seater costs £5 to £45 less than two saloons to the same airport, and the group stays together instead of splitting into two cars.
How much is a 7 seater taxi to Heathrow?
From £80 from central London (indicative), against £45 for a saloon. Your exact fixed fare for your postcode is shown before you pay, with the Heathrow drop-off charge treated as stated in your booking summary.
How much is a 7 seater taxi to Gatwick?
From £115 from central London (indicative). Gatwick is the airport where a 7 seater saves most against two saloons, because the saloon fare is the highest of the six London airports.
Is a Ford Galaxy a 7 seater taxi?
A seven-seat Ford Galaxy or VW Sharan has seven seats including the driver, so it carries six passengers. That is our 6-seater MPV. Our 7 seater taxi has seven passenger seats, so it carries seven.
What is the difference between a 7 seater taxi and a people carrier?
Nothing: a 7 seater taxi is a people carrier used as a taxi. “MPV” and “people carrier” are the same kind of vehicle, and the 7 seater is the version with seven passenger seats.
Is a 7 seater taxi the same as a 7 seater minibus?
No. A minibus has nine or more passenger seats and falls under different licensing rules. A 7 seater taxi is a private hire people carrier, and the 8 seater taxi is the largest vehicle of that type.
Should I book a 7 seater or an 8 seater taxi?
Seven people with a large suitcase each need the 8 seater. Seven people with cabin bags, or up to six people with four or five large cases, fit the 7 seater, and it costs less.
Can seven adults fit in a 7 seater taxi with luggage?
Seven adults fit, with cabin bags only. With all seven seats in use the boot has room for cabin-size bags and at most one large suitcase. If everyone has a checked bag, book the 8 seater.
Do child seats take up seats in a 7 seater taxi?
Yes, each child seat uses one seat. Child seats are free on request, and every child counts as a passenger, so give each child’s age when you book and we confirm the vehicle.
Are child seats free in a 7 seater taxi?
They cost nothing. Note the seat you need and the child’s age in the booking. A baby seat, a toddler seat and a booster each take one seat, so a large family may need the 8 seater.
Can I take a pushchair or golf bags in a 7 seater taxi?
Yes, count them in your bags. A folded pushchair counts as one large suitcase and a golf bag as one and a half. Tell us how many you are bringing and we confirm the fit before you pay.
Which UK airports do you serve with a 7 seater taxi?
Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted, Luton, London City, Southend and Manchester have their own pages. You can also enter any other UK airport on the booking page, and it shows the vehicles for your route.
Is a 7 seater taxi available in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland?
You can enter any UK airport, such as Edinburgh, Glasgow, Cardiff or Belfast, on the booking page. It shows the vehicles and the fixed fare available for your route, and a 7 seater is offered where it is available.
Do you offer 7 seater taxis outside the UK?
Yes, at airports in 81 countries. Availability depends on the airport and the day, and the booking page shows the vehicles for your route. Where a 7 seater is not offered, the nearest class is usually the 8 seater.
Is the 7 seater taxi fare fixed?
Yes. The fare is fixed when you book, with no meter and no surge pricing. Bags are not charged separately, and your booking summary states VAT and the airport and road charges that apply.
Does the driver track our flight?
We do it for you. Enter the lead passenger’s flight number and the pickup follows the real landing time. Up to 60 minutes of free waiting after landing apply to airport arrivals, per your booking terms.
What if our group lands on different flights?
Tell us in the booking notes. Give each flight number and terminal, and we plan the pickup rather than leave it to chance. If the flights land far apart, two separate pickups may suit you better.
Where do we meet the driver at the airport?
At the arrivals meeting point, with a name board. Your confirmation gives the exact spot for your airport and terminal. Keep the lead passenger’s phone charged in case the driver needs to reach you.
Can a 7 seater taxi do a return or round trip?
Yes. The booking form offers one way and round trip. Enter both dates and times, and the flight numbers, and the fixed fare for the return is shown before you pay.
How far ahead should I book a 7 seater taxi?
At least 24 to 48 hours ahead, and longer for school holidays, bank holidays, early-morning pickups and large groups, because people carriers are fewer than saloons and sell out first.
Can I book a 7 seater taxi for a wedding or a night out?
Yes. Wedding parties, stag and hen groups and event guests can book a 7 seater for the journey, with the pickup tied to one address or one flight. Give the times and the number of stops in the booking.
Can I get an invoice for a business booking?
Yes, by email after booking. If you need a second copy, ask support. A company that travels often can ask us about a corporate account with monthly invoicing.
Are 7 seater taxi drivers licensed?
Yes. A licensed driver does every journey. In London the driver holds a TfL licence and a PCO badge and has passed a DBS check. We are the booking platform, and your confirmation names the driver and car.
Can I choose the model of a 7 seater taxi?
You choose the class, not the badge. Every vehicle is listed as “or similar”. We guarantee the class, the seven passenger seats and the luggage standard, and note a model preference, but never promise it.
Is a wheelchair-accessible 7 seater available?
Wheelchair-accessible vehicles are available on request. Tell us the type of wheelchair and the number of passengers when you book so we can confirm availability for your route and date.
Can I cancel or change a 7 seater taxi booking?
Cancellation is free until 24 hours before pickup. After that, and for no-shows, the terms apply. To change the time, flight or address, contact our support team by phone, WhatsApp or email.
How do I pay for a 7 seater taxi?
At booking, by card, PayPal or Google Pay. Payment goes through secure gateways, and the fare you accept is locked in the moment you confirm.
Do children need a car seat in a 7 seater taxi in the UK?
A seat is safer, and it must be used if one is available. UK rules let a licensed taxi carry a child without one when none is available: under 3 only on a rear seat, aged 3 or over with an adult belt. We supply child seats free on request. See GOV.UK.
What if my group is bigger than seven?
Choose the 8 seater, or add a second vehicle. Nine to sixteen people suit a minicoach. Give the group size and luggage when you book, and we confirm the right combination before you pay.

Seven people, one car. Plan it, then book it.

Check your seats and bags with the planner, see a fixed fare before you pay, and your driver tracks your flight and meets the whole group at arrivals with a name board. Ask for child seats at no extra cost, and cancel free up to 24 hours before pickup.
