Málaga Airport operates a dedicated airport tariff (Tarifa 4) for journeys starting at the terminal. For Marbella, this means a closed pre-agreed fare rather than an open meter — but the figure changes depending on the day and time you land. The official Junta de Andalucía regulated rates for 2026:

The Number That Changes Everything
Most Marbella arrivals fly on a weekend. Ryanair, easyJet, and Jet2 schedules are heavily weighted to Saturday. A family landing Saturday morning pays €81 on the rank — €11 more than the weekday rate. A pre-booked transfer is the same price as it was when they booked it, whenever they land.
How Long Does the Transfer Take? 60 km, 40–50 Min
The AP-7 motorway runs south-west from Málaga Airport through Fuengirola, Marbella, and on toward Estepona. The road is dual carriageway for the full distance and the driving is straightforward. In normal traffic, Marbella town centre is 40–50 minutes from the airport. Puerto Banús and the Golden Mile sit 5–10 minutes further west.
The free A-7 coastal road runs parallel and is worth avoiding in summer — in July and August, the A-7 between Fuengirola and Marbella can add 30–40 minutes to the journey as day-trippers and locals dodge the toll. All our drivers use the AP-7 as standard.

Why the Weekend Rate Is the One That Matters
Rate 2 — the higher tariff — applies on every Saturday, every Sunday, every public holiday, and every weeknight between 21:00 and 07:00. It is not a peak‑season thing or a rare surcharge. It is the standard tariff for the majority of leisure arrivals at Málaga Airport, because package holidays and charter flights are overwhelmingly timed to Saturday.

The AP-7 Toll
The AP-7 toll from the airport to Marbella is €5.70 (Oct–May) or €9.25 (Jun–Sep). The regulated destination tariff doesn't clarify whether it's included. Ask before departure — or book a fixed transfer where it's always in the price.
Group of 5 or 6
A licensed rank saloon takes four passengers. A fifth person means a second taxi. Two taxis on a Saturday night = €162, plus two tolls. An MPV pre‑booked for six costs one vehicle, one price.
The August Queue
In July and August, the rank outside Terminal 3 runs 20–30 minutes during peak morning arrivals. A pre‑booked driver is already in the arrivals hall with your name board when you clear customs.

The AP-7 Toll, with 2026 Rates — and Why It Switches on 1 June
The AP-7 (Autopista del Sol) is a private concession motorway running from Málaga to Estepona and beyond. It charges per-section tolls at three points: Calahonda, San Pedro de Alcántara, and Manilva. For a journey from Málaga Airport to Marbella town centre or the Golden Mile, you pass through the Calahonda toll.
The toll operator (Ausol) switches to summer rates on 1 June and reverts to winter rates in October, with an additional Easter-period surcharge. The difference is significant: a low-season toll of €5.70 becomes €9.25 in high season. Our fixed-price transfer includes whichever rate applies — we do not add a supplement when the rates change on 1 June.

AP-7 rates are for light vehicles (cars). Rates confirmed from Autopistadelsol.com. Easter period (Viernes de Dolores to the following Sunday) also applies summer-rate tolls. Our fixed price does not change on 1 June regardless of toll rate.

There Is No Train to Marbella — the Rail Stops 30 km Short
The Renfe C-1 coastal line from Málaga runs south-west through Torremolinos, Benalmádena, and Fuengirola — and stops. The track ends at Fuengirola, approximately 30 km from Marbella. There are plans to extend it, but no confirmed build date. In 2026, there is no rail connection to Marbella.

"Marbella" covers a municipal area 140 km² in size. Your hotel address determines both the fare and the journey time. A single "Marbella" booking without a full address in a gated urbanisation can leave your driver circling the perimeter at midnight. Specify the address at booking.
Marbella Old Town
The Plaza de los Naranjos, the historic centre, and the beach promenade. Compact and walkable. Hotels here include the Marriott and Fuerte Marbella. Taxis reach the old town without issue — narrow streets mean a precise address matters.
Golden Mile
The 5 km luxury stretch between the old town and Puerto Banús. Marbella Club, Puente Romano, Nobu Hotel Marbella. Properties are large, gated, and often off‑road. Your full villa or hotel address is essential — a Golden Mile postcode alone is too broad.
Puerto Banús
The marina development west of the Golden Mile. Nightlife, superyachts, designer boutiques. Easy to reach and well‑signed on the AP‑7. Specify your hotel or the marina entrance — Puerto Banús itself is compact and well‑served by private transfers.
Elviria / Marbella East
The closest major residential area to the airport — 42 km south‑west along the AP‑7. Villa complexes, apartments, and the Don Carlos resort. Frequently quoted as "Marbella" even though it's 10 km east of the town centre. Shorter transfer, lower price from us.
Nueva Andalucía
Inland from Puerto Banús — the Golf Valley, with Los Naranjos, Las Brisas, and La Quinta among others. The residential area surrounding the golf courses. Villas can be on narrow mountain roads — your exact address and the driver's local knowledge both matter here.
Benahavís
The inland village in the hills above San Pedro de Alcántara. Rural luxury — La Zagaleta, La Quinta Golf. Road is winding after the AP‑7 exit. The journey time includes 8–10 minutes of mountain approach road. Specify Benahavís clearly at booking.
Golf Transfers — Clubs Don't Fit a Saloon
The Marbella area has more golf courses per square kilometre than almost anywhere in Europe, with around twenty within half an hour of the town, from La Quinta and Los Naranjos in Nueva Andalucía to Cabopino on the eastern coast. Golf visitors typically arrive with bags that are 130 cm long and weigh 15–20 kg. A standard saloon taxi's boot will not accept a golf bag alongside normal luggage.
A rank saloon taking four golfers with four sets of clubs is physically impossible. The choice at the rank is: passenger taxi for four, bags in a separate vehicle. That doubles the fare. A pre-booked estate, MPV, or large van resolves this in a single booking.

Return Transfer — Marbella to Málaga Airport
The return journey is the same 60 km in reverse — 40–50 minutes in normal traffic. The practical difference on the return leg is departure timing: flights from Málaga tend to be early morning (06:00–09:00 for the UK market), which means leaving your hotel in darkness. Rank taxis are available 24 hours but demand at the airport end is lower — the challenge is finding a taxi at your hotel in Marbella at 04:00 in August, not at the airport.
Pre-book the return transfer at the same time as your inbound booking. A driver confirmed to your hotel address is worth more at 03:45 than at any other moment in the trip.
