How much is a taxi from Málaga Airport to Puerto Banús?
Málaga Airport operates a closed destination tariff for journeys starting at the terminal, so the rank fare is set in advance rather than run up on an open meter. There are two rates. Tariff 1 applies Monday to Friday, 06:00 to 22:00. Tariff 2 applies every Saturday, every Sunday, every public holiday, and weekday nights from 22:00 to 06:00 — with wider hours during Semana Santa and the August Feria.

Why this route is a clearer argument than Marbella
On the Marbella route the gap between a rank fare and a booked transfer is narrow enough that price is barely the point. Puerto Banús is different. The rank starts at €84.56 before the toll and rises to €99.30 for any weekend arrival — and weekend arrivals are most of them, because charter and low-cost schedules into Málaga cluster hard on Saturday. At €79 fixed, there is no day of the week on which the rank is the cheaper option.
How long does it take? 64 km, about 50 minutes
The AP-7 runs south-west from the airport past Fuengirola and Marbella, and Puerto Banús sits roughly 64 km along it — about fifty minutes in normal traffic, or an hour in July and August. Every one of our transfers uses the AP-7 with the toll in the price. The free A-7 coastal road runs parallel and is heavily congested in summer; the Marbella page sets out the seasonal toll rates in full.
Times vary by district: the Golden Mile is around 45 minutes, Nueva Andalucía 47, the marina 50, and Benahavís about 55 once the mountain approach road is counted. Distances for each are in the drop-off section below.
Four, six or eight passengers — one van against two taxis
Puerto Banús is a group destination. Villa rentals, golf trips, family groups, friends taking a week — this is not a route where one business traveller with a carry-on hails a cab. It is a route where eight people come off the carousel with eight large cases and a shared villa address their sat-nav has never heard of.
A licensed rank saloon carries four. Beyond that the group splits: two taxis, two fares, and on a Saturday two Tariff 2 fares. The table makes that visible.

Rank figures are the official 2026 regulated tariffs published for Puerto Banús, before the AP-7 toll. Two saloons seat eight people but not eight large cases — with full luggage a group of seven or eight often needs a third taxi, which the table does not assume. The eight-passenger rule
Eight people in two Saturday-night rank taxis costs €198.60 in fare alone, before tolls, and puts half your group in a car that arrives at a different time. A pre-booked eight-seat van is €129 with the toll included, everyone in one vehicle, and one driver who has the villa gate code. The difference buys the first round at the marina.

The marina itself is compact and its core is closed to passenger vehicles. Whatever your confirmation says, your accommodation is almost certainly in one of the four areas below — and each has a different access route and a different stopping point.
Puerto Banús marina
The marina front around Ribera del Mar and Plaza Antonio Banderas is largely pedestrianised. Vehicles reach the ring road, and drop-off works best on Avenida del Mediterráneo on the north side. For marina-front hotels, the car park entrance is the practical stopping point.

Nueva Andalucía
The Golf Valley immediately behind the marina — Los Naranjos, Las Brisas, La Quinta, and hundreds of villas and gated urbanisations. This is where most villa-rental guests actually stay. Road access is good; the addresses are the hard part.

Golden Mile hotels
The coastal strip between the marina and Marbella old town — Marbella Club, Puente Romano, Nobu. Clear addresses, good vehicle access, five minutes east of Banús. If you're staying here, you arrive five minutes sooner than a marina drop-off.

Benahavís and the hills
The inland village and the estates around it — La Zagaleta, La Quinta, Marbella Club Golf. Access means leaving the AP-7 and climbing. Add eight to twelve minutes, and expect rural addresses that map badly.

Why a pin matters more than a postcode here
This is the single most common cause of a late pickup above Puerto Banús, and it has nothing to do with traffic. Postcodes in Nueva Andalucía and Benahavís cover very large areas. A postcode that drops a driver at a roundabout two kilometres from your villa is a problem at any hour and a serious one at 05:30 in August.

Saturday changeover is the highest-demand window on the coast. Every villa group leaves within the same two hours. Booking the return on the day before is leaving it far too late.

The inbound is the easy half. The return is where villa groups come unstuck, because there is no taxi rank in the hills above the marina. Calling a local taxi from a gated urbanisation in Nueva Andalucía at 05:30 on a Saturday is how people miss flights.

Is there a bus or train to Puerto Banús? expand_more
No train — the line ends at Fuengirola, about 30 km short. The Avanza coach reaches Marbella bus station but doesn't continue to Puerto Banús, so you'd need a second bus or a local taxi for the last 8 km. With luggage, that isn't practical for most groups.
Should I book the return at the same time? expand_more
Yes. There's no rank in the hills above the marina, and Saturday changeovers put the whole coast on the road in the same two-hour window. For a 06:00 flight you're leaving around 03:45 — not a time to be finding a taxi.
