Port de Pollença sits 65 km from the terminal, at the far northern tip of the island, and the drive takes about an hour. On the meter you will pay roughly €86 on a weekday afternoon and closer to €105 on a Saturday night. Our pre-booked price is €115 for the car. The number that matters most on this route, though, is not the fare — it is that no airport bus comes here directly. Every public-transport route involves a change.

The drive is an hour whichever you choose. On this route the extra time is not traffic — it is the connection at Alcúdia, or a coach that has already dropped six hotels before it reaches the Pollença bay.
Since Mallorca moved to a single island-wide reference tariff in May 2025, you can check this route yourself with a calculator. Journeys starting at the airport begin at a minimum fare of €16.95, which covers the flag-fall, the €4.65 airport supplement and the first seven kilometres. After that it is €1.20 a kilometre on weekdays between 07:00 and 21:00, and €1.35 a kilometre at night, at weekends and on public holidays. The full breakdown of flag-falls, supplements and waiting rates lives on our Palma Airport taxi guide. Over 65 kilometres, here is what those numbers produce.
| When you land | Tariff band | On the meter | Our fixed price |
|---|---|---|---|
| Tuesday 14:20, clear road | Weekday daytime | €86–95 | €115 |
| Saturday 21:40 in August | Night / weekend | €98–112 | €115 |
| Friday 22:10, 90-minute delay, Christmas week | Night + festive supplement | €115–132 | €115 |
Guide figures calculated from the Balearic reference tariff and checked September 2026. Stationary time is billed on top at roughly €19–21 an hour. Pollença is one of the routes where a metered fare genuinely can pass €130 — see the note on our island-wide price table.
A weekday lunchtime arrival, no delay, an address in Pollença town rather than out at the port. That journey can land near €80 and the rank wins on price. We would rather say so than pretend the meter is always the villain. What you give up is the queue, which between 20:00 and 23:00 in August regularly runs 30 to 40 minutes — and the certainty that your driver is willing to go an hour north at all.
A number that does not move. Not for a 23:00 landing, not for a Sunday, not for a two-hour delay, not for Christmas week, and not for an address eleven kilometres further out at Cala Sant Vicenç or Formentor. On the longest mainstream transfer route on the island, that is the whole product.
The meter can change band mid-journey. Leave the rank at 20:48 on a Wednesday and you are on the cheaper weekday rate for twelve minutes and the night rate for the remaining forty-eight, across the longest stretch of the Ma-13. On a 65-kilometre run that swing is worth about €9 — decided entirely by an inbound delay you had no control over.
About an hour for the 65 kilometres. The first fifty are easy: the Ma-13 motorway runs flat and straight through Inca and Sa Pobla, no tolls, no mountain sections. It is the last twelve kilometres that make this route different from the Port d'Alcúdia run. The motorway ends and you cross to the Pollença bay on the Ma-2220, a single carriageway with roundabouts, agricultural traffic and, in summer, a steady stream of cyclists.
That last stretch is where the variance lives. On a February Tuesday it takes eleven minutes. On a changeover Saturday in August, with the Formentor turn backed up at the Port de Pollença roundabout, it can take twenty-five. The Ma-2220 is also the road that carries most of northern Mallorca's cycling traffic between March and May, when the island fills with training groups, and a peloton on a single carriageway is not something a driver overtakes in a hurry.
Two dates to know about. The first is 2 August, when Pollença stages the Simulacre de Moros i Cristians at the close of its Patrona festival — the town becomes effectively undriveable, with road closures and no parking anywhere near the centre. The second is any Sunday morning, when the market fills the Plaça Major from 08:00 until about 13:30 and the approach streets are closed. Neither stops a transfer to the port, but both change where a car can actually set you down in Pollença town.
The drive at a glance
This is the single most useful thing to know before you land, and it is the thing most guides bury. Mallorca's AeroTIB airport lines were extended to run year-round from November 2025, which was genuinely good news for the north. But the northern line serves the Alcúdia bay. The Pollença bay is reached by connecting from it. TIB describes the arrangement plainly: the line links the Pollença and Alcúdia bays with the airport by means of a transfer at the Alcúdia or Port d'Alcúdia stops.
So you have two realistic public-transport routes, and they are quite different in character.
Route one: airport bus, then line 322
A33 in winter, A32 in summer
Take the airport line north to Alcúdia or Port d'Alcúdia — around 35 departures a day on the winter A33, roughly hourly, first bus from the airport early and the last close to 23:35. Get off, then pick up line 322, which runs Port d'Alcúdia to Pollença via Port de Pollença. The connecting leg is short; the wait for it is the variable.
Best for: daytime arrivals, light luggage
Route two: into Palma, then line 301
Via the Estació Intermodal
Take the EMT A1 city bus from outside Arrivals to Plaça d'Espanya, walk down into the Estació Intermodal, and board line 301, which runs Palma to Port de Pollença via Inca. It is the wrong direction to start with, and it adds a station change with your cases, but it is a single onward bus and the frequency is decent.
Best for: when the airport line timing is poor

Line branding and timetables shift with the season — the summer A32 replaces the winter A33 on a slightly different route — so check your own travel date on tib.org before you rely on a departure. For two adults travelling light on a midday arrival, the bus is still good value and we will not pretend otherwise. For four people with cases at 23:00, it simply does not exist.
Costed for a family of four landing on a summer evening.
| Bus + change | Package coach | Private transfer | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cost | €10–17 each | Usually pre-paid in your holiday | €115 per vehicle |
| Four people pay | €40–68 | Nothing extra | €30 each |
| Door to door | 2h–2h 30m with the connection | 100–160 min | ~60 min |
| Direct from the airport | No — change at Alcúdia or Palma | Yes, but multi-stop | Yes |
| Works at 01:00 | No — both legs have stopped | Yes, flight-timed | Yes |
| Luggage | You carry it, and reload at the change | Loaded for you | Loaded for you |
| Reaches Cala Sant Vicenç or Formentor | Seasonal lines only | Rarely | Yes |
| Child seats | Not provided | Rarely | Free, if requested at booking |
Note where the lines cross. Bus fares are per person and taxi fares are per vehicle, so two adults travelling light should take the bus and accept the change. At four people the gap narrows to about €50 for a journey that takes twice as long and ends at a bus stop rather than a front door. At five or more, or after dark, the comparison stops being close.
If you booked through TUI, Jet2 or a similar operator, a coach transfer is almost certainly already inside the price you paid. The honest answer turns on one variable nobody shows you at checkout: where you sit in the drop-off order.
Puerto Pollensa has a specific problem here, and it is geographic. Northern coaches are usually loaded to serve the Alcúdia bay first, because that is where the volume is. Pollença is further on and quieter, so it tends to be late in the order — often last. A coach that waits forty minutes at the airport to fill, then works down the Alcúdia strip, then crosses the Ma-2220, is not doing a one-hour journey.
flight_land A Jet2 flight lands at 22:15. Bags by 22:50. Coach loading until 23:25. Five hotels along Platja d'Alcúdia, then the crossing to the Pollença bay. You are checking in at around half past one in the morning with two children who have been awake since five. That is the arrival the upgrade exists for.
Ask your operator for the drop-off order before you write off a transfer you have already paid for. It is a fair question and reps will usually answer it. On the northern run, ask specifically whether Alcúdia comes before Pollença.
This confusion causes more wrong drop-offs on our northern routes than anything else. Two settlements, one municipality, one name, six kilometres and a proper hill between them. Pollença is the old inland town. Port de Pollença — Puerto Pollensa in Spanish, and on most British booking confirmations — is the seaside one. Booking sites use the names interchangeably; the drivers cannot.
Inland and uphill, built around the Plaça Major. The 365 steps of the Calvari climb from the centre, and the Sunday market fills the square from 08:00.
Bus: line 322 or 301
The marina, the beach and the Pine Walk. This is what almost everyone means by "Puerto Pollensa", and where the large majority of our bookings go.
Bus: Port de Pollença centre
A separate cove on the north-facing coast, reached by its own road off the Pollença–Port road. Small, quiet, and poorly served by buses outside high summer.
Bus: seasonal, limited
Eleven kilometres beyond the port, up the Ma-2210. Beautiful, remote, and subject to summer traffic restrictions — see the section below before you plan anything here.
Bus: line 334, seasonal
If your hotel is on the Pine Walk, no car reaches the door. The Passeig Voramar — the pine-lined promenade running north from the marina past the old summer villas — is pedestrianised. Drivers reach the properties along it from the roads behind, and for some addresses there is a short walk at the end with your cases. Tell us the property name at booking and your driver will take the nearest vehicle access rather than guessing.
When you book with us, give the property name and street, not the resort name. "Pollensa" alone could mean a town square six kilometres inland or a villa on a cove road — a difference of twenty minutes at the end of a long day.
We cover the whole municipality door to door. A few of the addresses we see most often:
Plus private villas across the Vall d'en March, Ternelles and the roads above the town. If your accommodation is not listed, simply add the address at booking — coverage is by address, not by hotel list.
If your accommodation is on the Formentor peninsula, or you are planning to see the lighthouse while you are here, this affects you and it catches people out every summer. The Ma-2210 — the mountain road that leaves Port de Pollença for Formentor beach and the Cap de Formentor lighthouse — is closed to private vehicles during the day in high season. For 2026 the restriction ran from 15 May to mid-October, between 10:00 and 22:00 daily, and the start date was brought forward at the request of Pollença town hall.
Hire cars
As far as Formentor beach only, and only while the 300-space car park has room — barriers and signage control it. Beyond the beach, no access at all during restricted hours.
Bus 334
The seasonal shuttle runs from Alcúdia through Port de Pollença out to the lighthouse, calling at Mirador Es Colomer, Formentor beach, Cala Figuera and Cala Murta. Card payment only.
Taxis and transfers
Permitted. Licensed taxis are among the vehicle classes allowed through the restriction, alongside public transport, cyclists, emergency services and permit holders.
Enforcement is by camera and the fines are real. More than 2,300 were issued in 2025, generally in the €100 to €200 range. If you are staying on the peninsula and planning to hire a car, understand that you will be able to reach your accommodation early and late but not in the middle of the day. Dates and hours are reviewed annually — confirm the current rules with the Consell de Mallorca or the DGT before you travel.
The practical upshot for a transfer: a 14:00 arrival with a Formentor hotel booking is a problem in a hire car and is not a problem in a pre-booked car. It is one of the few places on the island where the vehicle class you arrive in genuinely determines whether you reach your door.
This is the leg people get wrong, and on this route the reason is sharper than elsewhere. It is easy to find a ride at an airport and hard to find one in a resort an hour away from it. Port de Pollença does have taxi ranks — by the marina, at the northern end and on the southern square — but outside the season they are thinly staffed, and at 04:00, which is when most UK morning departures need collecting, there is no realistic hail-a-cab option at all.
The bus back is harder than the bus out. You are relying on two connecting legs at a time of day when the first one may not have started, and a missed connection at Alcúdia has a consequence on the way home that it does not have on the way in. If your flight is late morning or later, and you are travelling light, line 301 into Palma or the 322-plus-airport-line combination is workable. For anything before about 09:00, it is not.
Allow 70 minutes for the drive — a little more than the inbound, because early-morning departures leave before the Ma-2220 is clear and you want margin — then add your airline's check-in window. PMI's summer security and check-in queues are slow enough that we would want you at the terminal two and a half to three hours before a July departure.

Same €115, same vehicle class, and your driver has the exact pickup point for your property rather than the resort name — which matters at 04:00, when nobody is awake on reception to redirect anyone and the Pine Walk addresses need a specific meeting spot. Book the return when you book the arrival; early-morning cars in the far north get thin during changeover weeks.
Roughly €86–95 on the meter for a weekday daytime arrival, and about €98–112 at night, at weekends or on public holidays, over the 65 km to Port de Pollença. Add the Christmas and New Year supplement and waiting time for a delayed flight and it can pass €130. Our pre-booked price is €115 for the whole car and does not change with the tariff band.
About 60 minutes for the 65 km. The first fifty kilometres are motorway — the Ma-13 through Inca and Sa Pobla — and the last twelve are single carriageway on the Ma-2220 across to the Pollença bay. Allow 70 to 80 minutes on a summer changeover Saturday. Door to door with a pre-booked car, most travellers are at their accommodation within an hour and twenty of walking out of Arrivals.
No. This is the key difference between Pollença and the Alcúdia bay. The AeroTIB airport line serves Alcúdia and Port d'Alcúdia, and TIB's own description of the service is that it connects the Pollença bay by means of a transfer at the Alcúdia or Port d'Alcúdia stops. From there you take line 322 across to Port de Pollença. The alternative is the EMT A1 city bus to Palma's Estació Intermodal and then line 301 north. Either way, expect around two hours door to door and check your date on tib.org.
Pollença is the old inland town, about 58 km from the airport, built around the Plaça Major with the Calvari steps climbing from the centre and a large market every Sunday morning. Port de Pollença, also written Puerto Pollensa, is the coastal resort about six kilometres further on at 65 km, with the marina, the beach and the Pine Walk. They share a name and a municipality but not a location, so give the property name and street when you book rather than the resort.
Per vehicle. The €115 covers up to four passengers in a saloon; larger vehicles are quoted separately at booking. A family of four pays the same as a solo traveller. On this route that matters more than most, because the bus charges each of you twice — once for the airport leg and again for the connection.
Yes. Licensed taxis are permitted on the Ma-2210 during the seasonal restriction, alongside public transport, cyclists and authorised vehicles. Private cars and hire cars are the ones affected: in 2026 the restriction applied from 15 May to mid-October between 10:00 and 22:00, with access as far as the Formentor beach car park only while spaces last and no private access beyond it. If your accommodation is on the peninsula, a pre-booked transfer reaches it at times a hire car cannot.
Allow 70 minutes for the drive plus your check-in window. For a 07:00 summer departure, a 04:00 pickup is comfortable. Book the return at the same time as the arrival: rank taxis in Port de Pollença are scarce outside the season and effectively unavailable before dawn, and the bus connections do not start early enough to help.
We drop as close as the road network allows. The Passeig Voramar itself is pedestrianised, so properties along it are reached from the roads behind and a few addresses involve a short walk at the end. Give us the property name when you book and your driver will use the correct vehicle access rather than stopping at the start of the promenade — it is the difference between fifty metres and half a kilometre with your cases.
On the meter, no — the cove road adds distance and slow going, so you would pay a few euros more. On a pre-booked fixed fare the Pollença bay is priced as one zone, so the quote you are given at booking is the quote you pay. Formentor addresses are further out again and are quoted at booking. Enter the exact address and the system confirms the price before you commit.
€115 agreed before you fly, a driver holding your name in Arrivals, and 60 minutes of free waiting if the flight runs late. No change at Alcúdia.
