The departure is a different problem from the arrival, and people under-plan it. We collect from the hotel, apartment or villa and run to departures, and the pick-up time is set against the flight you are catching rather than left for you to work backwards from a check-in desk. Who Sets the Rank Tariff, and Why We Print None of It

Urban fares are set by the town council — Telde, the municipality the airport is in — and interurban journeys and airports by the Gobierno de Canarias. The run into Las Palmas is interurban. We print no rank figures: Telde’s own tariff update has been blocked at the regional price commission through 2026 and a Canary-wide tariff is trailed for next year, so a number published here would date fast. Aena shows the current table.

What Can Affect Your Transfer Price

Distance does most of the work. After that, in rough order of how much each moves a figure: the vehicle your group and luggage need, which is the one people underestimate; the date, because a transfer on the Saturday of a school holiday is not the same job as one on a wet Tuesday in February; the hour, since a car has to be somewhere at four in the morning and somebody has to be paid for driving it; and anything extra — a second stop, or a wheelchair-accessible vehicle.

The number you are given at the moment you book is the number we hold to. Anything on a page like this is a guide, and a guide ages.

In short Aena publishes one taxi rank at LPA, outside the terminal on floor 0, and its published meeting point for arrivals is the hall on that floor. A pre-booked driver does not collect at the rank — Canary Islands law does not allow it — so your own meeting instructions come with your booking confirmation, and those are the ones to follow.

Arrivals, Terminal Information and Meeting Points

LPA has one passenger terminal, and Aena’s published meeting point for arrivals is the hall on floor 0 — Vestibulo de llegadas. There are two baggage reclaim halls on that floor, so passengers do not all emerge at one door, which is why your driver confirms the spot against your flight.

The Official Rank, and Why Your Driver Is Not At It

Aena publishes one taxi rank, at the terminal on floor 0, outside. A pre-booked car may not collect you there — Canary Islands law reserves ranks to taxis and bars a pre-booked hire vehicle from picking up at one or within a hundred metres of it.

Telling a Licensed Car from Somebody Who Approaches You

Aena’s own advice is to take a taxi only from the signposted rank, and the reason is that airports everywhere attract people offering rides away from it. A licensed taxi is at the rank, has a meter, and will give you a receipt if you ask — ask. Anyone approaching you inside the terminal offering a car is, by definition, not operating from the rank.

A pre-booked driver is the other lawful option, and what makes them legitimate is that you booked them before you travelled and they carry proof of it. They will know your name and your flight number, because both are on the job. If someone can produce neither, they are not your driver.

If You Cannot Find Your Driver

It happens, and it is almost always one of three things: you came out of the other baggage hall, the flight landed very early, or a phone is off. Do not leave the terminal and do not take another car before telling us — use the number on your confirmation first. A driver waiting in the wrong hall is two minutes away; a journey you have abandoned is a cancellation.

Flight Tracking, Meet and Greet, and Delays

We ask for the flight number so the driver works from when the aircraft actually lands, not from the time you typed into the form. Early or late, it is still a flight we are watching, and the free waiting allowance starts at the real landing time.

The allowance that applies to your booking is stated on your confirmation. We would rather send you to your own booking than publish a figure here that turns out not to be the one you were given.

One terminal

LPA has a single passenger terminal, not several numbered ones, so there is no terminal to choose between.

Two baggage halls

Aena states there are two reclaim halls on floor 0, which is why the exact door is confirmed against your flight rather than assumed.

Overnight

Aena states the terminal closes to the public at night, which is worth knowing for a late arrival.

In short The airport sits on the east coast in the municipality of Telde, and the GC-1 motorway runs north to south past it — the capital one way, the southern resorts the other. Locally it is called Gando, which is officially the name of the air base alongside rather than of the airport — but a driver who says Gando means here.

There is no Gran Canaria route page to link to. The island has none, while Malaga, Palma, Bilbao and Girona all do — which is the first recommendation in the deliverables, and the reason the destinations above are described here rather than linked away.

In short A resort name is not an address. Southern Gran Canaria has long strips of similarly named complexes on the same street, and a villa may be up an unmarked road. Give the property name and the full address when you book, and the journey ends at the door rather than at the junction.

Hotel and Resort Pickups

For a hotel, the property name and street address are enough, and the driver waits at the entrance the hotel uses for cars. Large resorts sometimes have more than one; if yours does, say which, because a complex with three entrances is three different meeting points.

Private Villas and Holiday Apartments

These are where addresses go wrong. An apartment block number, a floor, an urbanisation name, or a landmark if the road is unmarked — anything that turns a map pin into a doorway is worth putting on the booking. A mobile number that works on the island is worth more than any of it.

Hotels

Property name and street address. Say which entrance if there is more than one.

Apartments

Block, number and urbanisation, not just the complex name.

Villas

A landmark or a what3words-style description if the road is unmarked, plus a contact number that works locally.

In short Child seats are free but must be requested when you book. A pushchair counts as a case. A group fits one minibus better than two cars. And a wheelchair-accessible vehicle needs at least 48 hours’ notice, because it is assigned rather than summoned — which is the single most important sentence in this section for anyone it applies to.

Children, Seats and Pushchairs

Child seats are included at no charge, and the reason they have to be asked for at booking rather than on the day is simple: the right seat has to be in the right car before the car sets off. Tell us the ages and we will match the seat; a driver cannot produce one at the kerb.

Count the pushchair as a case when you fill in the form. It takes the room of one, and a family of four with four cases and a pushchair is a people carrier rather than a saloon — which is a cheaper discovery to make now than at arrivals.

Mobility, Wheelchairs and Reduced-Mobility Passengers

A wheelchair-accessible vehicle is bookable and carries one wheelchair user plus up to four seated passengers. It needs at least 48 hours’ notice, because there are a limited number of them on the island and one has to be assigned to your job rather than found on the day.

If you can transfer into an ordinary seat and want the chair carried in the boot, say so when you book and give us the folded dimensions — that is usually a people carrier rather than a specialist vehicle, and it is quicker to arrange. Either way, tell us in writing at the time of booking. This is the one requirement that cannot be solved at the kerb, and the one most often left until it is too late.

Walking frames, crutches, oxygen concentrators and assistance dogs are all carried. Mention them and the vehicle is chosen accordingly.

Groups, Golf, Boards and Awkward Luggage

One minibus beats two cars for a group: everyone arrives together, at one door, at one time, and it is usually the cheaper of the two. Golf clubs, surfboards and bicycles all travel, and all of them need declaring on the booking rather than appearing at the kerb — a board is not a case and the car is chosen for it.

There is no discount for booking both journeys together and we will not invent one — what you get is both settled while you are still thinking about them, rather than one of them arranged from a sun lounger with a phone that will not load.

Booking the Return With the Outward Journey

It takes one extra step at the form: the return date, the pick-up address and the flight you are catching. Both journeys then sit on one confirmation, with one reference, and the same free cancellation window applies to each of them separately — cancelling one does not cancel the other, which is worth knowing in both directions.

Booking It Later, or Changing It

A return booked separately works in exactly the same way; nothing is lost by waiting. If your plans move, tell us in writing and we will move the pick-up with them. Changing a confirmed booking is covered by our terms and conditions, and changing is nearly always cheaper than cancelling and rebooking.

What Time Will We Collect You?

We set it against the flight, not against a rule of thumb, and we take three things into account: the drive itself, the hour — the GC-1 northbound into Las Palmas at eight in the morning is not the same road as at eleven at night — and how long you are likely to spend at the terminal once you arrive. If you would rather leave earlier than we suggest, say so and we will book it earlier. It is your flight.
